Alongside her work as a performer, Madelaine is also a keen composer. After winning the Gladys Puttick Competition for her improvisation work with dancer Adam Russell, Madelaine decided to explore the media of improvisation and composition further, and has studied with composer Douglas Finch in both arts.

Looking Outside From The Inside

A commission from choreographer Adam Russell led to Madelaine creating the soundtrack for a piece of contemporary dance on the themes of poverty, the vulgarity of bourgeois spending, and the social isolation caused by the wealth gap. Living History (2015)

For the community dance project Living History, choreographed by Adam Russell and set n Tullie House, Carlisle, Madelaine was commissioned to produce soundtrack and background music for the project. The aim of the project was to explore the history of the local area, dating from prehistoric times to modern day Carlisle.
