Living History Project

One of Madelaine's recent endeavours was a commission to provide the music for Living History, a community dance project based in Carlisle. Choreographer Adam Russell, along with assistant choreographers Amaia Elizaran and Andrea Charter-Lund, worked to create a piece in several locations across Tullie House, the local museum, exploring the history of Carlisle from Roman times to the present day. The cast was comprised of a mix of many generations, from complete beginners to professional dancers. Performances took place on 28th and 29th March 2015.

Due to the nature of the brief (i.e. changes of location and budget), the only equipment available for most of the music making was two battery-powered speakers and a battery-powered keyboard - more than a little outside Madelaine's compositional comfort zone, so she relished the challenge to do what she could with the tools she had!

MJusic: Shorts

In March 2014, Madelaine created a series of short videos to explain general musical concepts to intermediate-level musicians. The videos are pitched at roughly a GCSE/A level standard of knowledge, and are suitable for keen amateur musicians who already have some understanding of music.

The first in the series was published online on March 1st , and is all about Neo-Classicism. You can watch it below.

A new video was released on every Saturday in March: there are five in total. While the project is finished for now, there may be more in the future for different levels of musician: you can be informed when more becomes available by liking Madelaine's YouTube channel.
